Weekend events at the Just Food Community Farm, 2391 Pepin Court, Ottawa

Exhibit Saturday May 11 - Sunday, May 12, 2024.

Opening (and refreshments) at 1:00 PM.

Viewing and silent auction, from 11 am Saturday to 1:30 PM Sunday. Pick up by arrangement with the artist and Just Food.

SeedLing Saturday May 11. 10 am to 1 pm. Local farmers selling seedlings (small food and decorative plants), including "Champlain Heritage Oaks" from the tree nursery of Daniel Buckles.

Mother's Day Brunch, Sunday May 12, featuring local foods and chefs, 11:00 till 12:30, with reading from the new book "Connecting Worlds" by Daniel Buckles. Tickets here.

Tours of the farm (Saturday, 2 pm with Moe Garahan; Sunday 12:30 pm with Forét Capitale Forest.

ABOUT THE EXHIBIT

This collection of new paintings by Daniel Buckles brings the sensibilities of Japanese art materials--sumi ink, rice paper, and scroll-making--to the old growth treescapes of Lake Temagami. The work invites you to reflect on our connection to Nature, and the realization that there is no separation between the parts of life.

All work has been framed by the artist, using decorative papers and repurposed frames, to highlight the craft of making art that is both an image and an object connecting the material and imagined world.

Proceeds support the work of Just Food and the People’s Official Plan.
